The Second Onsite Course jointly organized by the General Civil Aviation Authority of the United Arab Emirates (GCAA-UAE) and the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC), opened at the Office de l’Aviation Civile et des Aéroports (OACA), in Tunis, Tunisia on Monday 16 October, 2017.
The training course which will run until 20 October, 2017 brings together 40 participants from 5 African States namely, Cape Verde, Nigeria, South Africa, Togo, with Tunisia making up the majority of the participants.
The expectations of AFCAC and UAE-GCAA are that upon the completion of the Course, all participants will be able to review and update their State Safety Programmes in accordance with the relevant ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) and the provisions of the new Global Aviation Safety Plan (GASP).
Delivering the Opening remarks on behalf of the Secretary General of AFCAC, Iyabo O. Sosina and in the presence of Mr. Kamel MILED, Director General of Civil Aviation, Tunisia, the Director of Safety and Technical Services, Mr. Papa Atoumane FALL, urged participants to actively engage in serious discussions with the Instructor, Capt. Nasir Iqbal, Chief Safety Risk Specialist, GCAA-UAE, regarding the management of their States’ safety oversight issues in the establishment/implementation of their SSPs and SMS’.
The SSP Implementation training is the fourth in the series of On-Site courses generously offered by the UAE-GCAA, within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation with AFCAC.
