1st Conference on Brain Drain in African Aviation
(Addis Ababa, Ethiopia 29 to 30 September 2009)

 

A Conference on Brain Drain in African Aviation will be held from 29 to 30, September 2009; at the Hilton Hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It is hosted by the Government of Ethiopia.

The goal of the Conference is:

  1. To proffer solutions to the Brain drain so as to promote safety, sustainability and prosperity in African aviation.
  2. To establish a comprehensive strategy that minimize such losses and mitigate its impact to the industry.
  3. Call on African operators and civil aviation organizations to develop a comprehensive and well thought out human resources strategy that address the issue of brain drain in all its aspects within the overall human resource strategy.

The Conference will have five Sessions:

Session 1 What are the reasons for Brain Drain in African Aviation and how to reduce it?
Session 2 The impact of Brain Drain in Aviation Safety.
Session 3 What type of policy should we introduce to change the Brain Drain to Brain Gain and attract the aviation professionals in Africa?
Session 4 The role of Aviation training Centers to bridge the gap.
Session 5 A regional approaches to reduce the negative impact of Brain Drain.
