Core Activities

SAATM

The Executing Agency

The Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM) initiative aims to create an integrated air transport market across the whole of Africa. The SAATM will be pivotal in advancing the agendas related to economic advancement, social prosperity, and regional integration.

SAFETY

AFI-CIS

With the technical support of ICAO, we at AFCAC launched the African-Indian Region Cooperative Inspectors Scheme (AFI-CIS) to eliminate Safety deficiencies and to enhance aviation Safety across our region.

SECURITY

Cooperative Experts Scheme
& One-Stop Security

The African-Indian Region Security and Facilitation Cooperative Experts Scheme (AFI-CES) supports States to meet their security obligations. The One-Stop Security (OSS) initiative aims to create a more efficient security protocol system shared across airports in order to expedite passenger and baggage flows while eliminating costly and time-consuming duplication of security controls.

ENVIRONMENT

CORSIA & SAF

Under the leadership of ICAO, we, at AFCAC, are committed to supporting and promoting measures across African Aviation that protect the environment including fostering the adoption of CORSIA and promoting the development and deployment of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAFs).

Why aviation matters

To advance economies across Africa, individuals and communities need to be connected with the right people, places, and things. Aviation facilitates this movement, allowing people to travel for education, for business, for social causes, and for leisure. It enables the trade of important tools, technologies, food, and medicines that support sustainable economic and social development.

Aviation facilitates tourism that enriches travellers while adding economic prosperity to the regions they visit. It’s also an industry that employs many people directly and indirectly across the region.
